Engine re-maps

Featured Replies

I'm a little confused about all the discussions on engine re-maps, chips , etc... At the end of the day, when you have your engine re-mapped, is everyone doing the same thing i.e. downloading the same software or is each company different? Is one company better than another? A mate has told me that she get can someone to re-map for

There are 2 different types of remap. Custom & generic. The one you are talking about is generic i.e you buy it as it is but do not get the full potential from the car (every car of the same make/model of a gets the same one. The other is a custom remap where the car is taken to the company, they put it on a rolling road and re jip the remap to make best of your mods, they can also change boost settings, when the boost kicks in etc.... the custom is more expensive but you get what you pay for.

Hope this helps.

Jon

Some companies don't use a rolling road in order to remap a car, and you might find, by that, their prices are cheaper.
