Nice roads ;)

B4494 wantage to newbury road

a417 theale to harwell

Short, and to the point :)

What makes these two particularly worth visiting?

Steve

Top one has some nice bends, just a nice drive. Views are pretty decent too, and there are a few places where it might be enjoyable to stretch the cars' legs a bit.

There are a few bends that get a lot sharper halfway through the bend, and you need to be aware of people walking/cycling in some places, but it's great fun :)

the first one, be warned of the odd sandwich in the only 50 zone (which is about 200 yds long). The road can be more interesting in winter after lots of rain and also in the snow/ ice. althrough doing the route from newbury back towards wantage is imho better than doing it from wantage.

The second road starts with some long stretches and a few towns, from pangbourne it does start to heat up with up and downward bends a couple of long what look straight roads but has hidden brows then in and out of a few villages, again someone has dropped some sandwichs in around blewbury and harwell ;-). There is also some yellow boxes situated along the route at tidmarsh, pangbourne and basildon (30mph)

WWVRS any decent ones youre aware of then?

I'll try to remember the road name but there are a few places where you can have a laugh ;) - I do enjoy a little driving round the back roads when it's not too busy, haven't been able to enjoy many of those days recently due to fuel cost and other commitments though :(

oxford to bicester via either arncot/ambrosden or via islip are good roads if you know them :)

also it might be quite short but the country road between abingdon and boars hill rather than the bypass is a nice bit or tarmac :D

there is a nice road from brize norton to burford then if you go out of burford through to Charlbury (dont have a scooby of road ID) it has some good sweeping left and right bends that go up and down some good hills. Also good scenery for the passengers and excellent in the wet in a rear wheel drive vehicle ;) yet to try it in the car and might do it next week.
