Vibration noise

Featured Replies

I wonder if anyone could help. My Vrs has started to make a sort of vibration type noise (sounds like a flat tyre). It is always there in the background. I sat in the back of the car the other day whilst it was being driven and it sounded worse in the back. It doesnt seem to have affected the power at all, although I do have a problem with the cold start in that it splutters for about a mile or so but dont know if this is related?

Can anyone help? Should I be rushing to the dealer?

Two seperate issues I would guess, Noises are hard to describe & even harder to diagnose from a descruiption. The noise could possibly be an out of shape wheel or tyre, Ive had out of shape alloys (after market) that caused a droney vibratey noise, We also had the rear tyres on the Superb go out of shape & that caused noises.

If its worse on the back swap the wheels front to back & see if the noise changes, if yes that will mean its in some way wheel/tyre related.

If its pointing that way take it to a dealers where the car can be put on the ramp to check the wheels or a tyre depot to spin the wheels up on the balancer & look as they slow down.

They normally go out of shape on the inside so spinning it up on the jack is unlikely to show anything. This might be stating the obvious but DONT be tempted to spin the wheel whilst you are under the car trying to look at the inside. I know someone who was killed whilst under a car that was on a jack, a passing car touched it & you can guess the rest

Octy VRs cold start has been documented many times & if you do a search you will find various posts on the subject
