Engine protection plate

Featured Replies

Guys,

Does the Mrk 1 vRS Octy have an engine protection plate underneath?

Thx.

K

Hi Mate

Yes they do

But they are only plastic and will not protect much

You can get an uprated one from a dealer , bit expensive though ;)

Sarah

It is supposed to have some plastic protection however I don't think this lasts long. You can get a proper metal sump guard plate from Skoda to fit in it's place. There was one for sale on here last month.

Thanks for your help! Tere's apparently a rattle of sorts (thought to be the exhaust but since advised not) on the vRS I just sold to a mate.

He's been told it's due to the protection plate being missing and there being lot's of loose bits as a result... sounds like a bunch of nonsense to me though!

Still waiting for some more details.

Ive never had one on mine.

I've never had one on mine since geeting the car and yes it does rattle without it

i jacked the car last week and started wiggling and tapping and it is noisy and i would think that the plastic under tray would tie it all in nice and tight

HTH

It would stop all manner of debris getting up underneath and rattling around. It also sort of pulls in and keep in place the side liners.

I had a steel guard fitted about 2 weeks ago as I was worried about doing some real damage to the sum with speed humps and rough C..... Roads round here.

the down side is I have even less clearance and have scraped it a couple of time where I didn’t before

the cost

Not as such; the standard plastic undertray's really only an aerodynamic piece, not a sump guard.
