Merc head unit into vRS

Featured Replies

Yeh, should do, you will need the cage too

Cheers for that, I'd have forgotten to ask them. It must be better than the Symphony head unit? Can't be worse.

why would you want a merc headunit in a skoda?? you can get a real decent aftermarket stereo for that sort of price

Good question. I'm not a fan of a lot of the new head units on the market and quite like the simplicity of the Symphony that's already in. I'm more interested in the sound quality than the looks, which is where Becker come in. They look almost OEM and don't look too flashy - which means it is less likely to get nicked.

I can't justify

have you looked at blaupunkt, vw use it as a oe replacement, or Nakamichi they are jap very plain looking to the untrained eye, but are very very good stuff, any one that knows about car audio will have herd of them

I would try and just get a normal becker rather than a merc one, alot better quality, plus the merc one might have differnt wiring

you will see normal beckers go for 150ish on here:

different wiring ... like fibre optic.....

accident waiting to happen.

Ok, I'll steer clear of that then.

I'll look into the Nakamichi stuff. From a quick search on Google, they seem to be popular for being understated, just what I'm after. Have you ever owned some of their stuff Trevor?

very expensive but good... used to have their in dash 6 changer 1 din in the ferrari... was spot on...

is an old model but will sound great... but bear in mind std speakers will not do it full justice.

I replaced them with Pioneer units a while ago, so hopefully they'll be up to the job.

Also, I know the answer will probably be no - but do US spec head units work over here?

Very good quality stereo but only thing to let it down is a slightly poor radio reception imho. You may need to ask if it is green or amber illumination as they are not dual illumination like modern stereo's.
