Weird cetral locking fault!

Featured Replies

Hi Good old Soviet here,

I was just congratulating my self for curing my instrument panel problem, when the central locking started to play me up.

My car is a Skoda Mk1 which has the key in the lock central locking as opposed to the signal type of key.

When the weather is relatively cool, and there is no sunshine on the car, the central locking works as normal. but when the sun has been on the drivers side door, the solenoid loses all its power, and when I insert the key and turn it, the other doors remain locked.

This means that I now have to trot around to the passenger side, to unlock all the doors.

The fault is definitely Dependant on temperature, in some way.

Does any one know if this is a common fault, and if there is an easy fix, excluding a thump with a lump hammer?

Thanks

Soviet :(

Moisture in an electrical plug?, expansion of part of the wiring? Check the plug at the door control unit and the door wiring loom.

If you're dismantling, get a can of Servisol first. Odds on the problem is a contact than needs cleaning.

Have you received your new vag cable yet? Maybe you could give it a test to check for any faults.
