air con problem ?

Featured Replies

Taking my 2005 Fabia VRS in for a 26000 mile service soon.

No problems apart from:

1) creaking passenger seat - seen lots of threads on that one.

2) "whirring" bearing sound when aircon is on - compressor I think as it stops immediately as aircon is turned off and is in time with engine revs. Heard loudest when engine is on overrun.

Also hissing sound (like a quiet gas leak) heard from dashboard vents when air con first turned on - fades away after a few minutes - only noticed it in last few weeks.

Anyone got a diagnosis ?

Otherwise it's been a great little car.

Hi Jules,

Sory to drag up an old post, but did you have any luck sorting your air-con issues, as it's EXACTLY what mine was / is doing now!???

Thanks,

Joe

Before I had a chance to get the aircon delt with, my son turned it into a submarine during a flood - hydro-locked the engine. Complete new engine plus carpets etc -

Thanks anyway Jules. I think I might just try a re-gas and cleanout first before even thinking about my compressor!!

Cheers
