vrs tyres!

Featured Replies

Hi,

need some tyres for my 17" alloys. Question, they run 205/50/17 not really as common a tyre as 205/45/17. if i changed what diff would it make?

Would it look stupid and would it put people off buying when i come to sell the car?

thanks :)

The rolling radius will be smaller and thus the speedo would over read.

A 215/45 would be a better choice over a 205. or a 225/45.

205 * 0.5 = 102.5

215 * 0.45 = 96.75

225 * 0.45 = 101.25

Fit the 225/45s, because, as I've just shown above, they'll only change the gearing by about 1%, make no discernable difference to the ride, and they're usually cheaper.

Lots of people do it.
