engine run in??

Featured Replies

hi all, i pick up my new Fabia vrs tomorrow but ive heard the engine needs run in for a few thousand miles is this true? It wont be easy if it is true

just drive it normally, take it easy until the oil has warmed up, then keep the rev's varied, don't be afraid to cane it every now and again and let it cool down for a minute or so after a long run (lets the turbo cool)

Or you could do what I do, and drive it like you stole it :)

thanks, think its going to be far to hard to take it to easy

Warranties exist for a reason. :D

Last car I saw "running in" instructions for, they said "do not exceed 4_000 rpm for the first 1_000 miles". Surely not that much of a hardship with a TD?

Also as FluffM said, but don't cruise at a steady speed for more than about 15 mins for the first thousand, and ideally get an oil and filter change done after them.

Just boot it.

Just boot it.

That's so last year, I prefer 'hoofing it' myself ;):D

thanks for all the help

Remember your not just running in the engine, bearings and brakes need bedding in too.

There's several schools of thought on how to run it in correctly, but your can't really go wrong following Skodas advice. Been covered in the fabia section many a time.

Have fun tomorrow!

manual quoted 1500km which is about 900 miles.

Had my car a week today and have just hit 1,000 miles already!
