My Fabia estate 1.9 sdi 2001 model .Apparently needs n/s and o/s rear engine consoles a geomotry check and removal and replace of rear bump stops . It has done 80.000 miles.

I aren`t a thecnical bod so want to know what the console thingies are and should they have gone at this mileage etc. I have been quoted

The consoles are the aluminium parts you can see either side and to the rear of the engine if you look under your car. I doubt you need new consoles simply new bushes. It has appeared that some garages are reluctant to fit the new bushes preferring the easier option of new consoles with new bushes pre fitted.

I imagine doing the entire console takes it more into DIY territory too. Pressing in new bushes at home is a no no.

For the cost of having a garage do the bushes it may be worth buying new consoles and fitting them yourself.....or doing the part ex thing with Lummox.

if you , god forbid , binned it , nobody from the insurers will ever get underneath to inspect the console bushes , they would take photos of the body damage and poss check the tyre depths

Trouble is, with it being a Fabia I'll probably roll it! Then the console bushes would be laid there in the sun for all to see.
