hi guys, i was cleaning my car and while looking down the air intake at the frount i noticed there is a gap about 1cm thick where the trumpet doesnt meet the bottom of the intake, every1 must have the same gap as its just how it designed. My question is why is the gap there? a would of thought ud want all the air going through that intake pipe, not losing some out the bottom? any ideas or thoughts on this any1?

It's an attempt to prevent water being scooped up into the airbox.
