Hi, and question about line-in on vRS

Featured Replies

Hi - great forum you've got here... very glad I've found it.

So, my first question of what will surely be many: I'm trying to make my iPod work using the line-in socket in the jumbo box on my Octavia vRS, and I'm getting good sound out of the left channel, but a loud 'buzz' as well as faint sound out of the right channel. I'm pretty sure it's not the speakers, since the radio and cd work fine on both sides.

I'm using a standard 3.5mm cable from the iPod's headphone socket - do you think this is the problem (ie I should be using some kind of line-out adaptor) or is it more likely to be a fault with the line-in socket on the car?

Thanks for any advice

If the speakers work fine on CD / radio and the ipod sounds fine through headphones, then that could suggest your cable is at fault.

Have you tried bending / twisting the cable where it is connected to the ipod / line-in?

welcome highvis. What youre using should be fine so itll be one of the following

- your ipod is faulty (check with headphones)

- the cable from your ipod to aux socket is faulty (do you have another or can you wiggle it?)

- the cable inside the car from the AUX to the radio is at fault

- as a last resort the aux in on the radio may be faulty.

if its not the first two then itll be off to the dealer and let them worry about it

I have this problem occasionally with my Zune - its just a case of twiddling with the cable a bit, and it seems to sort itself out.

Not very technical, I know.....

- iPod works fine with several different headphones;

- I've tried another cable: same problem

.... so, I guess it's back to the dealer. Thanks for the prompt reply.
