Central locking has a mind of its own!

Featured Replies

The central locking seems to have a mind of its own. I haven't really got a problem with the doors locking at 10 mph but being unable to get out of the car when stationary until the ignition key is removed from the barrel is a bit much! :(

Also why do the headlights come on when the car is unlocked in the garage and stay on until the key is inserted in the barrel? It must be a drain on the battery to say the least.

that'll be your antihijack. Dont your doors open if the handle if pulled twice from inside when the key is still in? If you dont like the antihijack then get the dealer to turn it off or buy VAG-COM

Coming home/going out lights? If youve got maxidot you can turn this off. If not then as above if its a trip to the dealer or buy VAG-COM

The central locking has Anti Hijack enabled - This can be disabled with VAG-COM or by a dealer.

The headlights again are a functions, one which I would imagine you paid extra for - Coming Home and Leaving Home lights are part of the Rain Sensing Wipers and Light Pack.

Again these can be disabled, either with VAG-COM or by the dealer.

If you have a 2007MY or later car with MaxiDot these options are available to you in the menu's to adjust as you wish, including the length of time the lights stay on for.

**Edit Bugger - both posted at the same time and you beat me. :P

lol, only by a couple of seconds!

Unfortunately I didn't get maxidot but that meant waiting 12 weeks instead of 1 week. You're right about the door release - someone I took in the car yesterday got out to my surprise and when I asked what he did he said "pulled it twice". By accident I think not "in the know".

Thanks for the info - I'll put up with the lights until it goes in to the dealer for another reason. Yes, I have got rain-sensing wipers which also do strange things like speeding up on intermittent for no consistent reason - I'd rather control them myself!
