converting to carb?

Featured Replies

Just out of interest but how easy/hard is it to convert a 1.3 spi/mpi to carb? Say twin webers.

What would the estimate hp be with say the following

decated exhaust

twin weber carbs (no idea what ones I I know naf all)

fast road cam.

Would it be able to break 100bhp?

only interested and dont plan on doing it (unless I had the money  )

Cheers

yeah, you could probably break 120bhp with twin 40's with either Webber DCOE or Dellorto DHLA's if you put the right stuff with it...

you would need to change the fuel pump in the tank tho, the carb engines run at a far lower pressure than injected one... you could even retain the existing ecu to control the ignition timing maybe with a little bit of head scratching

cheers.

I read somewhere that the skoda rally car had 90bhp by the way of using a ecu (take it was chipped/remaped) and different injectors. Does this mean the stock injectors are the limiting factor with the spi/mpi?

dont know! ??? it depends on what spec rally car it is?? group n???

the standard injectors are good for about 20% icrease in power at the standard fuel pressure... you could however increase the fuel pressure to get more fuel in.

i expect the rally ones have lairy cams too. plus probably run without a cat..

but anything is possible
