Revs rising/falling - lumpy engine

Featured Replies

Hi,

Can any body throw some light on this problem I'm currently having on my 2000 registered 1.8 20 valve turbo.

Initially it starts up ok and drives ok, its when I start to slow down, the engine gets lumpy and the revs rise and dip (very low). This especially happens when sitting in slow moving traffic or about to turn a corner. The engine has also 'died' a couple times when slowing down. When sitting idling is another time the revs will fall & rise.

Ok it weant into the garage today and has got them scratching there heads....

It's not throwing up any fault codes, so the garage thinks it may be electrical and not the throttle valve/MAF after all.

Any suggestions of what it could be would be helpful.

Regards

JCT
