Is there anyone in the Aberdeen area with vag com ? - I managed to pick up a set of Vrs clocks and tried to fit them to my Elegance model ,,, didn't know that it was linked to the immobiliser !:confused:, found out that it would start then cut out ,, re-fitted original speedo assembly and it still won't start !. Tried entering the 4 digit number on the tag that comes with the keys,as per instructions in handbook - I can get the numbers on the display but can't seem to get any further ,:confused: - can anyone help please ?

There is a procedure for swapping dash pods. Involves using the 4 digit from yours and the 4 digit from the new one.

AFAIK you ought to be able to remove the pod and then replace it without losing the coding. To recover your current problem I think you'll need VAG-COM to erase and re-program your keys as you may have erased them while you've been trying to get them to work.
