Little Styling Tweaks

Featured Replies

I am a member on the ScottishVAG forums and spend some time on various VW related sites.

I have been interested in the little styling tweaks that a lot of VW owners apply to their motors like swapping OEM bits from other cars in the family (door handles/wipers/lights/etc) to make their cars stand out from the crowd.

I'm not talking lairy bodykits here, but little subtle stuff that many layfolk would miss but the real enthusiasts would spot.

Do any of you lot have any of these things applied? (One car that springs to mind is a certain euro look Fabia ;)) but wondered if there were any more.

I am thinking about going black door mirrors. Had thought black roof but not sure if it would work or not (and also the cost involved).

B-Pillar in black is another, not going down the colour coded bump strips due to personal preference but may look for other ones.

i got a Furby... added little 'tweaks' such as colour coded door handles and side strips, black front grille, damped interior grab handles...

Basically anything that i can fit of more expensive VAG models...

Aero wipers from a Bora are quite common, Audi S3 upper and lower strut braces too (not really styling ideas though...)

I quite like black roofs on some cars but if your not sure you could get someone to photoshop it so you can see what it looks like and if your not sure you could get it vinyl wrapped and then if you don't like it you could peel it back off again

Not sure it'll be much use on a yellow Octy though.................. :rubchin:

I've done all sorts:

Front and rear aero wipers

Debadge

Black B and C pillar trims

Chrome strip along boot lip (bling!)

Milotec front grilles

Honda S2000 stubby aerial.

Oh, and a Toareg torch :D

All small changes.

Pimp My Skoda!

Next on the list are delocking and Milotec bumper vents.

So if I wanted colour coded handles on my Silver VRS, whats the best thing to do? go to a spray shop or is there vw parts I can buy?

I'd like to know where I can get the cool bumper inserts that ive seen on this site, are these folks making them with mesh themselves or are they available to buy and where??

Do you mean the lower grilles? They're a Milotec item.

Available from various UK suppliers including Awesome, RSD, superskoda.com, Butts of Bawtry.

Thats perfect, thanks RC

Really enjoyed reading your website, Rob! Well done for documenting it all for others. :)

Cheers guys - I figure that if I'm sad enough to have a website about my car it might as well be as useful as possible to others! :D

The steering wheel from a Golf R32 is a nice subtle mod along with the aluminium door trim that houses the windows switches.

Its the little things like you say make all the difference

I've added a few oem bits from other models to my Octavia;

Front and rear aero wipers,

L&K chrome strip on tailgate,

Leather steering wheel, gear kn0b & gaiter.

vRS chrome foot pedals,

Chrome door lock pins,

Golf GTi Recaros,

Red and blue illuminated dash,

& a Toureg torch.
