Boost gauge in an Octy 2?

Featured Replies

Anyone know the best way of fitting one?

Is the column on the Octy the same as a Golf 5?

New South Performance column pod seems like the easiest way to go.

I think Shifty tried this on his Octy through awesome gti, not sure how it turned out though..... SHiiiiiiiiiiiiiiifty!!!!! :)

You'll have a connection for it on your new valve Trevor.

The column shroud does look similar to ours.

One thing worth noting is that the gauge will have blue LEDs fitted to it. IIRC New South supply several LEDs separately. It would be well worth doing this so it all co-ordinates with the dash pod.

I agree. I'll get a green illuminated 52mm VDO to stick in there.

I looked at doing this a while back and gave up as I could'nt find a solution that did'nt look 'cheap n nasty' which the New South pod does imho! I would prefer a pillar mount but I could'nt find anything that was bespoke to the OctyII.

Would be very interested in where you go with this one, keep us posted

Forgot to mention, I did find this natty looking lcd boost guage but again could'nt think where it could be mounted without it looking 'cheap'

Turbo Bits

Pillar mounts are all a bit too 'fast and furious' for my liking. If you want subtle then the small LCD ones are ideal.

Get a car PC and get it to show VAG-COM logs through an MFD2

A friend just called around with a spanking new mk5 GTI and we did a comparison. The column looks similar but is more raised on the Golf. May not fit. I know wheer there is a scrap GT TSI Golf that I can rob the part from and see if it fits my own.
