Remap and warranty/servicing experiences?

Featured Replies

Ok this is probably a VERY obvious question but what experiences have people had in relation to remaps and warranties/servicing.

I'm guessing that it's very much dependant upon the attitude of the dealer being used but am assuming warranty is effectively void on the engine (or at least that parts that are impacted upon by the remap) :thumbdwn: but remains on the rest of the car  and that servicing will be done as per normal, albeit with the odd comment/issue :D .

Am I right or not and what experiences have people had good or bad.

I think you've got it pretty well summed up there.

It really does depend on the willingness of the dealer to help you as a customer.

Perhaps a switchable option would suit?

Perhaps a switchable option would suit?

Indeed it probably would as I am exploring all the options for a 1.9TDi 105 4x4 as opposed to a 2.0Tdi 140 4x4.

I am assuming you are referring to somehting like the Revo SPS or AMD One click options but do you know who does these for the TDi 105? Having looked at a few websites only Revo seem to do anything for the Skodas (or am I missing something).

REVO is a good safe option.

AMD were recently taken over by a company called Big Boys Toys and still trade under the AMD brand I think.

Superchips also offer the Bluefin - bluefin - Is bluefin available for my car? PLUG-IN AND GO. Although not for the 105.

Having an 'understanding' dealer/technician is worth it's weight in gold, luckily we have one here on the South Coast

Thanks for the feedback guys. I've now found a good s/h 2.0 TDI 4x4 so the initial need for a remap has gone away (just need to convince myself that I don't need this one remapping now to make it more VRs like!)

Although not a re-map, Digital Tuning Boxes (eg Dragon) might also be considered under the "switchable options" heading
