Identify vRS Estate Alloy

Featured Replies

Anyone seen the blue Octy VRS estate outside the front door of West End Skoda in Broxburn? Can you tell me what the wheels are ... I can't find them in the options list and they look the mutts nuts, they are split rim (or one piece made to look split rim) with a polished rim that is about 1.5 inches deep and loads of spokes.

Any other details (like offset and width - and can I get them in PCD 100 for a MK1) greatfully received.

Thanks in advance

A picture would be handy Barney.

If it's on a MKII and a genuine wheel then I would expect they will only be 5/112 PCD. They may be available as a copy wheel elsewhere.

Couldn't be these could it -

Indeed a picture would be handy ... I'll attempt to get one ... though if I go back I might as well just ask the dealership.

The look more like :

but with more spokes.

They had Skoda center caps but I can't find them in the accessory web pages ... the ones you suggested are in there though.

Pictures would be good OR

as you will have to stop, get out of your car, point your camera at the car etc etc .... wouldn't it be simpler just to walk into the dealer and ask them? or even phone them up?

That is what I was saying. I wasn't organized last night ... just picked my car up from a service and saw them on my way out the door. I've got to go back on Wednesday next week for some warranty work so I'll ask then ... I was just being impatient

If its the one I think it is then there's a photo on the dealers website under used cars... states that they are only 17" tho.

I'd post the photo but don't know how I'm afraid! Sorry.

Here we go; pictures of the (believed) offending item:-

As to what the wheels are; yes they're pretty good, but not as good as my Brock B14s, but I'm afraid I don't know what they are. Anyone? Free anorak to the first correct answer?

Dealer's description says 17" but the photo very much suggests 18s!

I think they look aweful The B14s are awesome, nice to see Skoda with some nice options for once!

I know, and I know you like them but you won't get a set out of Skoda UK anymore.

Skoda dropped them off their option list about a month ago and I bought the last one they had in parts stock, to repalce one of mine that got mullered in a pothole!!

If you want them now you have to buy them 'aftermarket' or from Brock in Germany.

what are B14's?

if its a mk1 and are 5 spoke fake split rims then they are probably VW santa monicas like i have on mine from a golf V5(i think).

These;- I have the Skoda 'dealer fit' B14 style wheels on my car. They are 8.0J x 18", part no. CCB 609 001 for

not to my taste TBH, i don't like the overlap at the end of the spoke or the spokes on top of spokes look but at the end of the day its your car and as long as you like it who cares? :D

i bet people don't like mine but i do so bothered? :P

Bingo those are the ones. ... Don't care about diameter at the moment ... just need to find out manufacturer/model offset width and if they do a 5x100

Thanks

Barney

Not sure what they are but they don't suit the Oct II IMo.... look a lot like Team Dynamics Jet 100's and Fox RS3s.. I think the Fox are a 15 spoke'r like those.

Did you say they look like a fake split rim, with studs around the lip, if so Fox RS3 are like that, and given that its a Livi / Broxvurn car and Halfords sell Fox alloys it could well be those (tentaive I know).

:)

Indeed ... you could be right about the Fox RS3's I'll get another look on Wednesday since I've got to go back for some warranty work. I must admit I thought they looked "better" than the RS3's I've seen and that they may have been VAG parts ... I'll not be putting Rox wheels on my car.

Thanks for the really informative reply. I wasn't asking for opinions I was asking for details of the wheels

Ah but Barney; you should know Briskodians by now; never slow in coming forward and venturing an opinion, but mostly trying to be helpful. ;)

Sorry; I have to say I don't like them either - too fussy. (probably bug**** to keep clean as well) !

Just an opinion, but.... the Octy has a curvey shape and needs a set of alloys that compliment that shap. Those alloys are quite nice on their own, but a bit to angular / racy for the sleek understanded (compared to other cars) look of the Octy.

I think a nice 5 or 7 spoke slight dished would look better........ but just an ooinion.

Also, if the car was black and lowered it might go better.... al al (ok, not the best PS, but a 5 min job; quick bit of black and lowered)

To tell the truth I'd agree with you completely about a 5 or 7 spoke ... I like the Borbet A's ... but thats been done a lot around here they are only 16's and getting them in 5x100 is like finding hens teeth. Also just in case it was missed I actually want these for a Mk1, which is graphite grey - I only asked in this forum as I thought they might have been some obscure option on the Mk2's

Indeed I do, just a cranky day. Personally I feel that if someone asks a technical question without a request for opinions then the answers should at least include useful information along with the criticism. ;)

BTW something I found out recently, stainless steel rims are apparently much easier to clean the brake dust off than painted alloys :D
