disconnect battery or not

Featured Replies

unfortunately got to go away with work for six months:mad: which will mean the vrs will be placed to sleep in a garage, i would like some advise weather to disconnect the battery and risk it not working again when i come back:( . or leave it connected and hope there is enough life in it when i return. also any storage tips would Be nice.

You might want to find out if your insurers have any requirements as I don't think the alarm works with the battery disconnected? Aside from that, leave it with hardly any fuel in, handbrake off and wheels chocked, and get it booked in for a service and once over when you get back :D

If you have access to VAG-COM you can put it in 'Transport Mode', that would be ideal I think.

Alternatively you could lend it to me!!!!!

Could be worth getting a trickle charger specifically designed to maintain the battery in rarely used cars such as classics.

I think you can get some solar powered ones, too so if you could get the panel outside no leccy to worry about.
