Featured Replies

Just bought a 05 Black Fabia vRS (getting it next Saturday) & found this place. Bought it from Evans Halshaw - they goiing to service it & vallet before I get it. Should I be taking it to a skoda dealer to get it checked out too?

Hello and welcome AlistairS

I take it the car is up to date service wise which will comply with the warranty requirements etc, then it is really up to you,you know the peace of mind thing.

You may be better just picking it up and using it for a few days and see how you feel then

Thanks for the welcome :)

According to the salesman the previous owner probably forgot to hand the service book in to get it stamped - there only appears to be 1 record of a service (26,500 approx on the clock, 05/05) I have asked evans halshaw to ensure that the mileage is recorded & the book stamped prior to me receiving the vehicle & they have assured me this will validate the warranty?

I've normally gone for new cars on PCP until I decided to go for a 2nd user vRS, so am a little green about the whole second user vehicles scene

I think you have done the right thing, excuse my ignorance but i take it Evans Halshaw are skoda main agents and if they did the previous service it will all be logged....so roll on saturday

The dealership is a ford one, evans halshaw

Used Cars & New Cars - Evans Halshaw

seem to have bought over lots of different manufacturers sales outlets nationwide (the pendragon group IIRC)

I think the dealership must have taken the care in part exchange or it may have even come from an auction

BTW everyttime i put in the evans halshaw dot com hyperlink it auto converts to an advert ??

Ok so as i am reading it the car has only one service stamp for 28k,is it possible for you to find out the name of that servicing dealer and ask if they have seen the vehicle before that? or contact the selling dealer(front of service record) and check that way?

No the service stamp was for round 10K IIRC. The vehicle is 30 odd miles away at the selling garage. I had a phone call today to say it has been serviced & is ready for me to pickup on sat morning. All I can do is investigate the service records when I go to pick it up

Right i am with you now,i think it will be fine, Saturdays almost here, go enjoy and let us know how you get on:)

Got the car a couple of hours ago seems fine no probs - a couple of cosmetic things but that what you get buying 2nd hand I guess. It has actually been serviced 3 times (incl the evans halshaw one yesterday. It has incredible acceleration, especially comparing it to a 1400CC diesel fiesta LOL :)

1st time

Thanks, I'll look into that

Mind you did a quote last night online for insurance at 170bhp & it would almost double my premiums
