Octy vRS, Tracker & Insurance

Featured Replies

Is it worthwhile getting a Tracker fitted to my new Octy vRS when it arrives, and if so which one should I go for?

My current insurance company Direct Line don't specify or offer a discount if I fit one, but when my insurance is up for renewal I plan on shopping around for a better quote and the Tracker may help and give me piece of mind. Especially as I do a lot of business travel, stopping away in Hotels.

Thoughts?

I got quotes both with and without Tracker, the difference was negligible and certainly didn't cover the annual subscription cost let alone the original installation cost.

Seconded. Though it may be different with some more specialist insurers?

wouldn't bother, Skoda's are not regarded as high value property.

Personally I wouldn't bother as the initial cost isn't too bad but the monthly or yearly subscription can be extortionate. If a serious car gang want your car they will take it as contrary to belief Trackers are not infallible, if you want to deter TWOC-ers then just get some stickers made up or I am sure that you can get them online.

I would just spring for a good CAT1 alarm which do give you a noticable discount

If you want a good insurance company then I can highly recommend Adrian Flux. I have been with them for several years and they always give excellent quotes/deals. Also if you are a fully paid up member on here then you get a 10% Briskodian discount. As they are a specialist insurance company if you search around on here you will find the number and just give them a bell, they will be more than happy to spare the time to talk to you and tell you the best route. Especially if they think there is some business in it for them.

Thanks just requested a quote from Adrian Flux for a comparison. Will be with Direct Line until April next year as it's only a

You shouldnt need to install a CAT1 alarm, as the octavia has one fitted as standard. AF were quiet happy that the factory alarm meets all their requirements.

Another vote for Flux as they also recognise IAM/RoSPA qualifications to the tune of 25% discount

I wouldn't bother with a tracker though as no insurance company will discount for having one and I would only get one if I couldn't get reasonable priced insurance without one (remember there's a monthly/annual subscription to factor in as well as fitting cost)...

Theres also the issue that if someone took your car, would you really want it back? Not knowing what they might have done to it....
