Service indicator not appearing even though it's due

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Car has now got about 39,300m on the clock and was last oil serviced at around 29,960 odd miles. I was expecting the service indicator to pop up around this point but it hasn't yet despite being under 1k till it's due.

The car is booked in anyway for the 40k next week, but at a non Skoda garage. I'm concerned that he wont be able to reset the indicator because it wont be displayed.

I read on here after a search that it could be due to the service indicator being in KM and not miles hence it's not showing?

It's also getting a brake fluid change whilst it's in as I don't think it's ever been done despite the car being 3.5 years old. Will resetting the 40 service (if possible) reset any counter for the bi-annual brake fluid inspection too if it exists?

Thanks,

Chris.

They ought to be able to reset it no problems.

It's very common to not have the service indicator show up especially if it's not been set up properly.

Ah ok, righto. Cheers Stu.

As it's a 40k-er, resetting the interval should cover the lot shouldn't it?

Or is there a different procedure for resetting the lube and inspections?

Just concerned that I get the 40k done, he resets the non-existent interval thingy, and then a few miles down the road it prompts for an inspection.

It should be setup with diagnostic equipment however it can be done with the kn0b on the dash. Instructions in the owners manual.

The bi-annual brake fluid change counter does not exist except in your head and maybe in your service document if there is a space for it. Its just one of these things that are extra "needs" like timing belts.

Give me shout when ur ready i can re-set it and set up the service intervals with vagcom if ya want?

John, you're gonna have to stop this. I'm gonna owe you so many favours soon......

That would be great mate if possible. I think the thing may be doing it in KM which might be the explanation. It's booked in next Wednesday to have it's 40k done anyway.

I'll just get the brake fluid done anyway then if it's not a set interval. After 2 years I'm sure it'll have absorbed some water and wont be tip top any more.

Thanks guys,

Chris.
