Have to wait before starter turns

Featured Replies

N reg 1.3L felicia.

Most of the time, turn the ignition and off it goes.

More and more frequently, for an increasingly length of time I now have to wait, ignition key fully operated, before the starter motor turns.

I have cleaned the solenoid / starter connection lead tags, no difference, still waiting (intermittently) for the starter to turn.

Switch, solenoid, motor, or something else ?

Anyone else had this ?

it could be the brushes inside the motor itself.

How to wire a bodgeup bypass solenoid starter switch?

Cheaper, easier, quicker to job done. Turn on the ignition, press the switch.

Wot current / power rating would be required , any handy switches that could be utilized ?

How to wire , is it just +ve to the single thin plugin lead on the solenoid ?

Or would more than this be required to bodge it ?

Have a look at the switch on a scrapper to see just how big the contacts want to be, and the wiring is (and that's not even the main starter feed wire).
