Replacing aerial in estate - poor reception

Featured Replies

Like some other posts to this forum, I've suffered from weak radio signal. MW and LW were poor when I bought the car at 3 years old (2000 model), and was told by the dealer that was just a weakness of the car !!

Gradually Fm got weaker too and I discovered that VAG aerials of that period had a proneness to water ingress. I pulled the radio out in due course and have a wire wandering around the cabin as the aerial proving that the built in one is the fault.

But how do you dismantle all the plastic work around the rear door to drop the roof lining and get at the aerial nut inside so that it can be replaced ? Help please.

Cheers

Rob

it just pulls off, the clips may end up left behind on the car though, just ease any clips still attached out with some pliers and re-attach to the slots on the plastic trim before refitting.

Well I'll try again but are you talking about the estate or the car version. My previous attempts came to nought !.

They are both the same. I had mine down the other day. They are really difficult to remove, but get a good grip and away you go.
