Automatic door lock - driving me crazy !

Featured Replies

I had cruise control fitted recently to my 1.9TDI - great toy and a real pleasure on long distance driving.

The guy that fitted it asked me if I wanted the auto door lock activated while he had the computer on the car - in ignorance I said yes. What a boo-boo; it's a PIA ! If you don't have it then avoid at all costs - at 10mph the doors all automatically lock with a great clunk and won't unlock until the ignition key is taken out. You can reverse it with the switch on the driver's door but drop below 10mph and it kicks back in again.

Presumably this is child safety or against getting mugged but neither of them are a concern to us.

Anyway, can it be switched off without going back through the computer interface ?

Cheers

Rob

You can open any door from the inside with it enabled and the key in, just pull on the door open leaver twice in succession and the door will open. The only way to disable the function is through the computer interface.

Yep as Manny says you'll need somone with VAG-COM or the dealer tool to disable it.

It's known as Anti Hi Jack.

I love this feature, its great. Makes me feel alot safer whilst driving.

it is a great saftey feature, but a pain in the A**e if you get out and forget to unlock all the doors and even more so when you get to the boot and its still locked. ha ha ha
