Sumps

Featured Replies

Hi, folks. Not long had my Octavia L & K 130 estate when I lost an argument with a very hard but very small piece of Scottish scenery that was sticking out of the ground, the upshot of which meant that I had to be recovered & need a new sump. Slightly inconvenient given that I was 9 miles up an unsurfaced track. However, all was sorted, back to full health again. As I marshall regularly on forest rallies, I wish to avoid the same thing happening again. Anyone know of a maker of sump guards to fit Mk 1 Octavias ?

According to one of my son's pals who works for one of the Scottish Constabularies, they have experienced similar happenings on tarmacced roads with their Octavias.

Skoda certianly did one, might even be part numbers if you have a little search.

Skoda do a sump guard, plastic or a metal one.

The plastic one isnt really a sump guard, its a sound deadener.

omp make one for the mk4 golf, that should fit on without too many problems

Theres a brand new metal sump guard and fixings in the for sale section at the moment ;)

The big problem is fixing the sump guard onto the car I believe - it requires some special mounting inserts to be attached to the car. Plus the guard is quite heavy - it has been suggested that fitting / removal is a 2 person job.

had one fitted by the stealers to my vrs estate about 6 weeks ago

You need a bear nut insertion tool to fit and yes an extra pair of hands :)
