gearbox probs

Featured Replies

hi there i was wondering if anybody could help i've got a octy 1.9 tdi 100bhp a4 model 56 plate wow that was a mouth full lol anyway when i am sitting at a junction when i engage first and pull away if i accelerate a bit harder than normal as ichange into second gear there is a crunch/grind has anybody had this if so what was wrong or any suggestions please ?

1st of all make sure you are fully depressing the clutch - we've all done it i'm sure! But on a more unlikely note, a cracked syncro ring on the 2nd gear can cause this. It happend on a friends Seat Ibiza. In your case its under warranty so happy days!

thanks for the reply it seems to happen when the car gets warm also if i come down the box to quickly it does it because the car is new my head is in a pickle lol

If it's under warranty, I'd just tell the dealer, but I don't think it's common enough for a "they all do that guv" answer to be even likely.

Could be the gear box oil change IMHO.

The box isn't sealed for life, but the oil is never changed

Also could need the linkage adjusting (It is two wires if you mean the TDI 110)

I agree though, you have a warrenty, then you might as well use it :)
