Recommend me a good car kit for the N-95

Featured Replies

As the title

I am leaning towards the CK-7W but am open to suggestion

I don't want hassle of fitting if possible is the CK kit easy to get working through the speakers

Previous posts mention the parrot3100 is plug and play so i would consider this but then some say the sound quality is lacking a bit

all thoughts would be great:thumbup:

p.s. if a mod wants to shift this to ICE please feel free i was not quite sure which section would get more looks

Not sure... i have a old CK3000 in my car and do have problems.. especially when im using the blutooth gps :(

I have a CK-7W in my mk2 octy. It must be relatively simple to install as I seemed to manage it. Works fine with the N-95 including voice dialling etc.

As long as the stereo has a phone input, and not just a mute lead its relatively easy and the kit comes with a diagram showing how to hook it up, If the stereo only has a mute connection, then you will need to find somewhere to mount the included speaker.

Manny.. how well does the N95 work with the car kit? what profile does it use?.. the problem with my car kit is that it seems to be in "headset" profile.. means every sound the phone makes goes thru the speakers and i cant use any of the advanced features of the parrot (like phonebook downloading, in-carkit voice recognition etc)

Thanks again guys i think i'll go with CK-7W kit to stick with the brand, which hopefully means less problems

I have the CK-7W in the RX and have bought it again for the van. Works perfectly all the time, wouldnt consider using any other.

The only thing I find a little annoying is when the wife takes the car somewhere then comes back to the driveway and my phone (in the lounge) pairs with the car handsfree kit

The phone connects to the CK-7W as a car kit, rather than a headset so uses the general profile. It does however suffer the same problem, in that all sounds are routed through the car kit. Its the same with my company Nokia phone, so I think Nokia phones route all sounds through bluetooth if connected that way.

You can however have it set so that when connected via a "CAR KIT" it uses a different profile, so you can disable some of the system sounds (DTMF tones etc.) and just have calls come through, this is what I have done.

The thing is with the parrot, is I believe it connects as a headset rather than a proper car kit so you get less control on the phone.

It only does this whilst the engine is running right ??

it should only do that with the engine running, and if you have connect the ign. sense wire, as the car kit will go on/off with the ignition.

As the octy2 doesnt have a switched supply within easy reach, my kit stays on with the key removed. The kit switches off 2 mins after the phone disconnects from the kit.

Yes, thats the one.

Don't you just love it

Ordered it at about 3ish yesterday. Waiting on my desk for me this morning.

Next question where did you fellas mount the mike for the best performance. I was thinking near the sun visor perhaps ?

Not wanting to hijack, but are you (mannyo) saying that you use 2 phones with one CK-7W (both connecting via bluetooth)?

If so, did you do anything special as I can't get this to work. I paired my (non Nokia) phone with the one in my vRS, then paired my wife's (Nokia) phone with it. When I came back with my phone, the only way I could get it to connect was by pairing it again (and entering the passcode again). Once I've done that, it won't find my wife's phone. So it seems like i will only connect to one.

You can use 2 phones with the kit, but they cant both be connected at the same time. The CK-7W remembers the last 5 devices that connected, so that you dont need to re-enter the key each time you change.

Just looking through my HU manual and I have a aux input in the shape of RCA connectors. So does anyone think i could buy a RCA to 3.5mm input adapter and connect to my HU that way

I have a ck-7w but I'm getting the newer ck-20w so I can charge my N95.

My 7w also doesnt sound or switch to phone mode on my stream MP3, only when a call is actually dialed. I'm guessing this is down to the HU?

Just to check I'm understanding this correctly, are you saying that you can take one phone in the car, turn the kit on and have it connect, then turn the kit off and then take it second phone in the car, turn on the kit and have this connect? With out doing anything to the phones? Because this is what I want to do, but haven't achieved yet.

Maybe it's a Nokia/non-Nokia phone thing, or perhaps a revision thing? The kit I have is about 2 1/2 years old.

Any ideas?

This is how mine seems to work, my CK-7W is only a couple of months old though.

I fitted mine this morning I wired it into my HU so when it mutes i just switch to aux input and robert's your fathers brother.

First impressions are good I like the way the sound only comes out of passenger side so not cause an echo

Easy enough to fit didn't even get my hands dirty

But is is getting crowded behind my glove box now though lol

Would have recommended the CK-15 w which I have just installed in place of my CK-7w. Bluetooth only, you get a little color screen whcih tells you who is calling and has your phone book on to make calls. Can also input a number via the remote. In addition you can sawp phones using the menu and it can remember 20 phones.
