Is this acceptable?

Featured Replies

My vrs has been in the garage for about a week now. with no date for it to be finished.

But about 10 mins ago i was shocked to see my own car with too lads in driving it 20miles away from the garage! It was definatly mine i have a personal plate so is easy to spot.

Would you consiuder this acceptable when the car had no reason to be test driven, went in for a new seat base.

I would not, id be on the phone to the garage now.

Definately not... I'd be on the phone to the garage straight away asking what they're playing at... might start the conversation with asking for an update on how the works going and then when you get the answer ask why you've just seen it at wherever with 2 blokes driving... see what they say!

No, as apart from anything else, they're putting unnecessary miles on the clock. I'd make a formal written complaint to the garage doing the work, and I'd state in the letter that you expect some form of compensation (perhaps some money off your bill?).

Damn, beaten to it

screw that, go in all guns blazing and tell them if your not appeased then a call to skoda UK will be made, but make it anyway. down right scandalous that is!

Report it stolen to the police, it may have been, you never know.....

What was it in the garage for? Perhaps they were test driving it to make sure whatever work carried out is okay? Although 20miles away is taking the **** alright.

I'd have headed there immediately and demanded to see my car. :)

FWIW I always take note of the mileage of my car when it goes in. Even for a test drive - unless trying to diagnose an intermittant problem double figures mileages are unacceptable imho.

WHAT??????!!!! FFS, phone up Keiths and scream at them.

That is BANG out of order. C0cks....

I would call the garage and say that you have.

Certainly not on. It's understandable if it's a fault that only slows on driving but not for a seat base.

One thing you do need to do is make sure you get in writing from the garage the exact dates the car was with them - just in case these lads happen to get snapped by a camera.

Not acceptable. Phone straight away and complain.

that's shocking! i would report it stolen

Was it being driven "enthusiastically"? Only ask as a Scooby owner I know had similar happen to him and to add insult to injury, he also received a speeding fine while the car was allegedly in the garage.

Just waiting for the service manager to give me a call back now. They are taking the ****! it was all warrenty work.. so no money off the bill but i think a full tank of fuel might help ease my anger. Chris i saw the car on your road ;) infact it passed me right outside ur house!

I wouldnt have minded if they had phoned me to say we need to take your car on an extended road test. But as far as i am aware the only reason i dont have my car they were waiting for parts.

ill let you know how i get on

i would be soo angry, bang out of order that.

Certainly not acceptable.

The last lube only service I had, the garage took it for a test drive? I asked why and they said just making sure all was ok, they said "you wouldn't be happy if on your way home you found out it had no oil in, would you" Didn't know whether to laugh or be angry. Said he used the handbrake to "clean the rear discs" as if it was a favour.

I let it go but wasn't happy. It was a 15 minute drive, not 40 miles.........

Apparently my car was on an "extended" test drive.

What the hell were they testing! All i knew was they were waiting for a seat back! next thing i know the cars fixed and driving around were i live. takes the ****!

Now i have to wait till monday to get it back as they are waiting for an engine mount. WTF!

Not a happy skoda owner today

lol do I hear hand brakers! :D

Outside my house? That's not an extended test drive, that's a commute.

What the hell were they doing all the way out there?

That's a shocking excuse and I would be calling both SUK and Johnnie Cochran, if he was still alive, and if he worked for the prosecution.

In fact, forget Cochran, call the A Team.

Yup directly outside ur house....... on the road tho . Apparently they couldnt hear the noise! u know chris the noise that shakes the whole car...... i should have told them to suggest they offer their mechanics free hearing tests. You can only hear it in first and second so why the long motorway trip. unless they didnt go out of second.

The A Team would struggle with this one! I wonder if they had the similar problems with their van

They could replicate the noise by just going down the road a few times. I don't see why they have to drive 15 miles just to replicate a noise that only happens when caning it in 1st and 2nd.

You've shaken my faith in Keiths now mate. :(

There's me, sick to death of Pulleyns, thinking I've found a semi decent dealer to take the car to for future stuff and then I find out they're razzing round in customers cars! Sigh.....

Pulleyn's is no more. It's been taken over by some new guy I believe.

I wouldn't be particularly happy with my car being taken out at all unless it was a fault being tested and adding double figure mileage is ridiculous.
