Hi pitch squealing

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

So... was driving around the other day and had to brake fairly hard...

Now on my drivers side rear brake area there is a hi pitch squeal.

Any ideas what it could be?

Drove today and felt a THUD and it felt like it clamped on a bit.

It's not constant and the pitch gets higher when I brake, the noise isn't constant either.

sounds like a loose stone got in there, it will come out over time.

Try reversing slowly, then brake, and then apply handbrake.

If this doesn't work, do it faster, and then try the same going forwards.

Try this for 3 days, and if it still does it, you will need new discs and pads all round anyway, and that should cure it:D

HTH.

Ha, I like your style

Hopefully it's just a stone, so annoying though! I'll try the reverse, brake and handbrake trick when the hangover fades...

A stone doesn't always make a noise, but is quite capable of latheing a groove in a disc, leaving you with the new discs and pads scenario.

It looks like I just need new discs and pads...

The pads on the back are pretty worn, I didn't realise until I checked earlier!
