180 and 225 difference

Featured Replies

Right guys so we have the 180 TT engine in our cars am i right.

what made the difference between the 180 and 225. surely cant we do the same to get 225 standard then start modding from there?

Different turbo, intercoolers, injectors etc etc...big job to get there as standard. Just get a remap and youll be happy, I am :)

thinking of a remap ,does it put undue stress on engine components?

engine should be fine, might need a better clutch after a little while though.

225 lump is different internally aswell as manifold, turbo, injectors etc etc

the engine does make a better starting for modding simply because it has stronger rods and pistons so you can go higher before needing a rebuild.

hmmmmmm right i guess its the usual mods then.

then il start on injectors etc

I dont see the point when the remap option is already there and widely used by many.

because you might want more than the 200ishbhp you get from a remap

sorry i was using under the heading "normal mods" that mapping would be done as a matter of course alongside CAI and BOV and possibly decat.

what mods have you used to get to 240bhp?

jabba remap?

:P

jabba remap?

:P

Damn beaten to it

Chris

Jabba remap (get the custom one), Ferrodo DS2500 brake Pads, Dot 5.1 fluid & plenty of change from a grand to spend on Petrol to enjoy it, If you want a bit of noise then get a zorst but do that before the remap, after that its a case of diminished returns on what you spend. I should know, Ive spent thousands but had a lot of fun on the way.

Much over 200 bhp & you start running into traction problems with FWD.

The basic remap is also fairly kind to the std clutch.

Oh so true, especially in the wet - it's not funny fighting with the car in 3rd gear to keep it straight, you just have to be very gentle with the acceleration or the TCS goes nuts!

I've got a cat back blueflame exhaust which I must say am very impressed with, very discreet noise and fits into the standard rear bumper very nicely, that cost me

just buy an octavia 4x4, way cheaper and easier. i hate to think of the head ache fitting a 4WD system to a FWD car would be as the floor pan is different from the octavia 4x4.

I'll be having issues then ;)

This added to the fact the proven 234bhp Cupra R can't keep up makes it a fair assumption the car is running circa 240bhp, possibly slightly more, although a 20hp increase from the intake and exhaust would be very good.

First off, a standard 225, would be a tad quicker than a modified vRS, let alone a remapped one at 234. Power might not sound great, but it can hold it for longer.

I really doubt that a 6 hp difference, you can run rings around another car.

Cupra R is faster, as standard, and when remapped. Sorry!!!!!!

*Edit* Sorry, If I sound off, but ... Your in a different world to the rest of us,

I was waiting for that

I can't be biased, I hated my Leon Cupra R!!! But it's definately a lot faster.... even when standard!

:iagree:

and thats owning a car that used to have a K03s ;)

a Ko3s (thats whats in the RS) Cant flow over 230bhp it Cant hold Boost and the it will chew its self and ur Engine! it surg's etc. a remap...a good one with a CAI can get u 225 but its got to be taylored to the car but a 225 block will still have the edge as its ment to run those boost levels etc it dumps cleaner and holds traction better etc etc

remapped LCR with 234hp? worst. remap. ever..?

Mine ran 236 .... Majority on Awesome GTI and JKM, ran 240hp.

It is just a more realistic figure, rather than the K03s being 240.

Bear in mind, the earlier K04 turbo'd engines, had 210hp to start with.

So, nothing wrong with remap, although, my car wasn't running right... and this isn't my car we're talking about in the thread.

Here's an example...

K04 turbo's cannot hit the 270 hp mark, just from remaps which Revo claim.

Some of the following are Revo'd and didn't see much over 240.. Awesome GTI Store UK - Rolling Road

And another Awesome GTI Store UK - Rolling Road

225hp Leon Cupra R, Revo Remap, Turbo Intake Pipe, Samco Hoses, Milltek Turbo Back Exhaust, K&N Panel Filter, Forge FMIC ran 250hp.

14bhp from a 210 block is a bit Muck........they normaly go up to round 240 with just a good cust. remap......but still there so much that can affect BHP so its a mixed bag!!!!

14? You mean... 24hp - That's about right in my book.

Same with the K03s, 180 + 24 = 204 HP (Which is about right!). Still a bit muck? It's the same thing, just on a different scale!
