Locking the car without activating the alarm?

Featured Replies

For the past few days my vRS's alarm has been playing silly beggers, culminating in going off twice last night and four times this morning. This doesn't impress me much; nor - one expects - my neighbours! I took it to the dealership and they say there's a known problem with the internal sensors but can't get the car fixed until next week.

In the meantime, is there a way I can switch the alarm off?

Does a double-click of the remote work on the Fabia. I think thats how its done on my Octy II

I hope not, otherwise when I've pressed the button again, just to make sure I've locked it, I've actually been de-activating the alarm:eek:

I don't think it actually deactivates the alarm, it merely disables the interior motion sensors.

Sorry to go off thread but is that true? you press close twice on the octy 2 and the alarm will not work, I do that nearly every night!

Have a look at the end of the first post in this thread - http://www.briskoda.net/forums/new-octavia/new-octavia-tips-tricks/55750/

Disabling of motion sensors for leaving window open

there are 2 ways

1) If you are by the car, there is a button in by the 'b' pillar on the drivers side, press that before locking

2) Press lock on the remote twice. This will also disables the deadlocks.

Thanks a lot, will stop doing it now:)

well, maybe it counts for the Octy but not for my Fabia - It doesn't have the button on the door.

Two clicks disables the internal sensors and the deadlocks on the Fabia.

I'll try that double tapping thing. Is there any way I can tell whether it has worked or not?

Leave a window open and wave your body through the hole and listen how you're not deafened after you've double clicked the lock. (you can also open the door from the inside to test the deadlocking's off)

Then close the window or your car may not be there anymore.

You have to press the button twice within a few seconds for it to work. You'll hear the car lock as normal on the first press, and then you'll hear the deadlocks on the second press as they unlock.

I think the red LED on the drivers door will stop flashing if the alarm is disabled, I think

Yea if you read the manual it tells you about the double click action on the fob to disable the alarm

I checked the manual and you're right. though it didn't stop the red light flashing away.

The red light flashing is the immobiliser, IIRC....

I made a thread about this about a year back

Got into a bit of a debate about dogs, but the info is there.

Double tapping it didn't stop the alarm going off; hell, leaving it unlocked didn't stop the alarm going off. The RAC man disconnecting the siren did stop it annoying the heck out of everyone.
