Build dates ?

Featured Replies

Judging from what the dealer said our car should be ready now in between 5 and 7 weeks with a bit of luck.

How does it work though ? Do Skoda build so many Saloons then Estates ? So many Ambiante and then Elegance ? Or is it just that their ar so many cars to be built in front of ours ?

We're waiting for an Elegance Estate.

I HATE waiting :D

I would think your dealer will have an exact scheduled build week.

normally depends on what is available lying around in their fields or what stock the dealer has bought and can't shift.

I visited the factory a couple of years ago and it appears that the production line has a complex computer controlled system which builds all the model specs, left hand drive/right hand drive hatch and, estate all at the same time.. Once they recieve the order only the "computer knows when yours takes its trip down the production line.

Keep pestering your dealer, he can keep you informed as to the factory's progress. Sometimes they fall behind but it is also possible for them to run ahead of schedule. The trip from the factory gates to your door often takes longer!!

Good luck

I thought, and I could be wrong that colour was one of the main factors in the production line of cars due to time it takes to change colours. Anybody know if this is right or complete garbish?

mine was cos i wanted xenons and a sport. dealer does know what stage its at and can find out off their tinternet but dont want to look. 7-8 weeks sounds about right too and you may be lucky for it to be here in 6 weeks ;)

After checking with their computer system, the dealer was able to give me a build date and said once the slot was allocated some changes can be done without losing the slot, but others (like a colour change) put you to the back of the queue again.

Once built, hassle the dealer for the VIN number, and the VIN decoder will tell you the precise day and location of build, plus all the options (4 pages worth in my case from "UK spec base build" to "North African foglights"). Don't know what the latter was all about, but quite interesting, and heightens the anticip---a--t--ion...

yeah north african lights and cezh radio
