Problems With Octavia Vrs

Featured Replies

I've Only Owned My Octavia For Just Over A Month And I've Got A Couple Of Problems With It!! Nothing Really Serious, Just Little Niggly Things.

1. Exhaust Rattles Once The Car Gets Warmed Up

2. Clutch Creaks When Pressed Down.

3. Passenger Side Seat Creaks If Anyone Is Sitting In It.

4. Something In The Dashboard Rattles Just Behind The Stearing Wheel.

5. The Rear Window Washer Has Stopped Working.

I've Got The Car In The Garage Tomorrow And It Still Has 11 Month On The Warrenty, But The Servicing Department Said If Its Something Like An Exhaust, Its Not Covered In The Warrenty, I.e. I've Gotta Pay Up. I Think This Is A Bit Harsh, As These Type Of Problems Should Have Been Resolved Before I Bought It.

Does Anyone Think I'm Entitled To Ask For This Work To Be Done Free Of Charge Even If Its Not Covered On The Warrenty As I've Just Had The Car For 5 Weeks.

Cheers, Andy.

The rattling exhaust is possibly just the mountings...so they're not going to have to go to the expense of replacing the exhaust system, just reseating it. For that, I'd say that they should do it in the interests of customer service!

Rear window washer is probably just a disconnected tube - there's a flexible rubber hose pushed over a rigid tube in the tailgate, and water can freeze in this if there isn't enough screenwash used. This tube can then pop off under pressure - takes about 5 minutes to fix, and I've always had it done under warranty.

Creaks are a tough one, as they might just say "they all do that"...I'd imagine they're all fairly minor things to fix though. The creaking seat is quite common!

Rob.

If it's a Skoda warranty, I think you're entitled to it FOC, and if the dealer doesn't fix it, then take it to another dealer or contact Skoda direct and ask why they won't do it - you might find they can be very persuasive to the dealer. :)

Chris

Sorry I can't help Andy, but I don't believe I have ever seen anyone capitalise the first letter of every word in a sentence before  ;)

Dave.

creaking passenger seat - they all do that... Mine has been greased, oiled, bits replaced, still creaks, especially in hot weather for some reason.

fit a sports exhaust.

fit bucket seats.

take dash out and save weight.

dont use clutch.

lose rear wash wipe... more top end speed.

:D

assume car is over 2yrs old.

assume ehaust rattle is a dodgy mount... sub 10 quid from kwik fit.

If its under warranty they must fix it unless they can proove its broken as a result of mis-use, if youve grounded the exhaust badly & it now rattles its youre fault

Dont know about the seat, dashboard, I had a rattle & it was the surround to the light switch, try pressing it & see if the rattle changes.

If they say rattles & creaks are one of those things take it to another dealer, I had a similar response & the second dealer fixed the lot, no quibles.

If your anywhere near Winchester I can recomend Winchester Motor company

Thanks for the advice. I'll see what they say tomorrow after they've had a look at it.

The only reason there were capitals to every first letter was because I typed it all in capitals and when I posted it, it came up like that????

Rattling Exhaust -not had that

Creaky Seat - had my seat runner repaired yesterday

Rear Wash - the tube is gay and likes to fall off the mechanic put a jubilee clip on it

Dash Rattle - nope none of them even with loads of bass :D

Creaky Clutch - none of that

My Octavia vRS is from 2001

Rattling exhaust - got that, don't really care, only hear it on cold start

Creaky Seat - awaiting 2nd attempt at rectification

Rear Wash - no problems

Dash Rattle - I thought I had one of these - turned out it was the handbrake release button

Creaky Clutch - had this occasionally

Your dealer should certainly be sorting these out FOC on a one month old car !

I've gettin my car back, but it has to back in the garage again tomorrow. The central exhaust bracket was brocken, which caused the rattling. They've ordered one in, so it should be fixed by this time tomorrow.

The Rear washer pipe had come loose. Now fixed.

They've done something to the clutch, which has stopped the creaking.

The rattling in the dashboard was due to the anti-role bars, being replaced tomorrow.

They'ver also changed the ignition coils as well????

Anyway, its cost me nothing, So I'm happy.

I got a 1.2 Fabia as a replacement car for the day. Ahhhhhhhhh. Even my Mam's Smart car kicks its ****!!

Interesting logic....Just try and take a smart anywhere with that didly wee fuel tank!

Interesting logic....Just try and take a smart anywhere with that didly wee fuel tank!

Can easily do 300 miles trips on a tank of fuel...which I wouldn't say is that much of a limited range!

Rob.

I doubt it'll be a problem if he's getting the 90mpg out of it he claims he is ;)

Chris

hmmm 1.2 fabia combi that's what I had so nice so refined so er well it wasn't my vRS :D Not a bad motor for the money are they
