faulty obd port octavia tdi

Featured Replies

hello everyone,' iam having no luck in trying to comunicate with my ecu via the obd port i have tried it with vag com ,my gendan interface and with my kwp gear . is this a problem anyone else has encountered ?the car is a tdi octavia.

cheers

I'm assuming you have the ignition on and are able to communicate with other controllers.

Is the car remapped?

You could try removing the battery for 15mins or so and force a reboot/reset.

Have you run the VAG-COM [Options][Test] and determined that all the diagnostic buses are good? VAG-COM will tell you if there is a problem with one of the "K" lines.

hello i have made sure there is no fault with the test equipment tried it with other cars works fine.tried with the ignition on only and with the engine running.i've not tried to reboot yet (diconnect battery 15 mins)and the car has not been remapped as far as i know .the power light on the vag com lead shows that the power is reaching the interface.

iam thinking broken wire in the loom .

cheers ...pat...

Unless someone has dismantled the car, I dont think the issue is with the loom. Is your stereo still the original one or aftermarket.

its not the standard stereo, i' tried to find all controllers found nothing the plastic panel where the obe port is located was loose ie someone has been in there .

i'll try the reboot tomorrow if time pemits

ps. i've also had problems with the electric windows ie. opening on there own ?

i dont know if this is related , . i recon the problem with the windows is switch or relay or wiring .

pat

Also if you have central locking problems that's often a sign of the radio issue.

hello

if i disconnect the stereo will that help ? if i remember correctly on some vag cars the constant 12v feed and the ignition12v feed needs to be reversed ie:. the red & yellow wires

could this be the problem ??

pat.,

It's certainly something worth isolating to rule it out Pat.

Did you ever get this sorted? I have the same problem with a 2001 51 Reg octavia 2.0 will not comunicate at all with any controler have checked all fuses and all okay. Thought I would take some of the dash out to see if there was any problem by the fuse box or odb port. Then all of a sudden the code reader went in then it lost comms. Is there a relay for the ecu/odb connector there is power there to power the code reader but no comms or comms once should I say then no more.
