This is my 1st post so hope I'm in the right place! My engine management light (51 reg Fabia 1.4 16v - 53000 miles) came on in early 2007 & I noticed also that the car was (for the 1st time ever) using a lot of oil. I was having to top it up every few weeks (I do approx 1000 miles a month).

I took it to my local dealer in Leeds & the diagnostic check showed it was the EGR sensor saying "excessive". Dealer had my car a week & diagnosed the problem as the piston rings.

They replaced the piston rings &
