Can anybody suggest a cause with this list of symptoms?

I had a similar set of symptoms and it was diagnosed as the "crank position sensor". The cutting out became progressively worse, and when it did start then it would rev randomly...

Could probably do with a throttle body clean and maybe a new coolant temperature sensor.

iirc this engine does not have a crank sensor, it has a cam sensor instead.. sometimes a little oil leaks past the o-ring on the back of the camshaft ans plays havoc with the sensor
