Have heard that if you turn it off at standstill, it turns the whole system off. If you turn it off while moving, it leaves the elec diff to still cuts in. Not sure how true this is. ;)

I always seem to turn the ASR off on the move....never remember to do this when I first start up.

Do get some sort of traction control even when I've apparently turned it off........will check again later.

Anyone know if the light actually comes on all the time the ASR is being triggered? I have to confess I leave it on most of the time cos I hate seeing that light on the dash, but turned it off this morning and found the car a lot more lively and faster.

Now, I've only managed to trigger the light on the dash a couple of times before  so is it kicking in while I'm driving without lighting up the dash warning light?

ESP will not make you quicker on track... would be like leaving the handbrake on...

it will make you quicker,if,as i said, you are inexperienced in the first place,ie you dont know how to handle the car past the limit.Although you cant defy the laws of physics, even with ESP,you can lean into corners far faster than with it off,it does what your inexperience cant do

ive driven 2 previous cars with switchable ESP,and both were faster with it on,but then again,i aint a particularly good driver

in fact i'm crap

in fact i'm crap

lol am sure your not... merc esp is good.. i find the vw/skoda stuff a bit "on /off" hence my comments..

I am,but thanks for the vote of confidence:)

ASRs are generally on/off,in my limited experience that is,because they are designed to save a crash, stability programmes though will aid increased speed and shouldnt be on/off.The Alfa ESP is fantastic on a track

I turn it off most of the time, tried leaving it on at Brunters and just found that at corners everything gets a bit lumpy and jerky and I could not apply power in a smooth kind of way. Especially the right corner after the long fast left.

I didn't even bother trying a lap of Brunty with my ESP on - it comes in so early that it gets in the way even on spirited A road driving, yet alone having some fun on track!!
