How many of you turn off the traction control when driving briskly.

I do, it cuts in too much when driving hard... what about you's?

turn it off.. TC / ESP are inherantly for girls.

:D

On the Octavia isn't it the ASR button to turn it off?

(just wondering as the same light which comes on when i turn the ASR off came on as i was going up a 1 in 4 hill and i went over some loose stuff)

How long you had your fabia?

Yay, as it saps power.

TC is needed where throttle control is lacking - hence ideal for RS drivers that can't even spin the back wheels on a 911!

(admit it, it's a 1500 beetle based replica!)

Off.

Yes, all it means when that happens is that one of the wheels has lost grip and it is trying to get it back. I get it all the time.

ESP however, is quite handy, especially for snowy lanes to get past the ditched RS's...

;)

ditched RS's no way it never ever came to rest in the ditch... at least it has a sump and any more comments and i will have my oil level sensor back :P

So them saying turn the ASR back on as soon as you get moving was a load of crap? they just don't like you driving without traction control :)

Yes, I think a sump is *all* is left in your engine bay! Suprised at how much of the wiring survived the fire though...

TC on when it's wet or slippy (has saved my insurance excess a couple of times), but I do like to switch it off on the twisties when it's dry ;)

look it wasnt a fire.... "it may be engine related" "but we wont know till we get it back to germany" as norbert haug would say.

you can have smoke without flames.

Can we make a pros and cons list regarding the traction control button?

pros and cons list regarding the traction control button

As requested:

Pros

It fills what would otherwise be a hole in the dash

It feels nice

It works with a smooth action

Cons

It defaults to on rather than off

It needs better illumination

Can we make a pros and cons list regarding the traction control button?

Its skodas equivalent of the Puntos "Girly Button"

/me runs away

Con.....scares the s*** out of you when pulling away in the wet and you step on a manhole cover.

Major Con..

If you forget about it and try an F1 start, it tries to put you through the windscreen entirely at random

Hate it and turn it off at any given oppotunity! :D

TC/ESP OFF whenever I'm having fun... so basically it's only ever on for motorway driving & driving to / from work in rush hour... like I really need it then!!:rolleyes:

Saying that, even when "OFF", the electronic differential thingy still tries to work, and the esp has a little play, but the car's much more fun :D

Have heard that if you turn it off at standstill, it turns the whole system off. If you turn it off while moving, it leaves the elec diff to still cuts in. Not sure how true this is. ;)

Traction control ?

Whats that ?

Traction control ?

Whats that ?

Its that annoying flashing light when you press your accellerator
