Fabia alarm fault solution

Featured Replies

A message for those people with a Fabia, which has a factory fitted alarm, and which keeps going off on its own at night read on for some answers!

My Fabia 1.9 TDi elegance estate recently decided that at about 00:10 hours it would wake me up by setting off the alarm. I went running outside of my house in my shorts and T-shirt waving a large Maglite torch around about to give someone a good hiding for touching my car, only to find nothing. Car untouched and no one around, nothing inside that would set it off as it is always spotless inside and cleaned weekly. Reset the alarm and fine for the rest of the night. Following night the alarm goes again this time at about 23:10 hours, with nothing apparently wrong again. Having some knowledge of a probable alarm fault on Fabias due to being a Technician/MOT tester myself I went hunting.

1. Firstly according to my local dealers master tech the air vent grilles have been known to trigger the alarm if they are pointed upwards therefore interfering with the interior protection sensor signal.

2. Secondly a very common fault particularly at night during periods of hot weather the interior protection sensor can play up. It is located behind the interior light and is simply a little square black box. It costs around

Interesting stuff. Thanks for posting it up. :)

Yes interesting indeed. I dont think it covers what is happening to my car (1.4 Comfort , with optional factory alarm). I was taking the car out of the garage on saturday morning when one of the lads who lives up there came over and asked if my car has an alarm. I said yes , and he told me that 2 or 3 times recently when he has been unlocking his car (06 Golf) to go to work , my alarm goes off with my car approx 30 yards away , and in the garage! (I dont live beside my garage , as its in a row of council lock ups , so I never hear it) It also likes to go off in car parks beside other cars , so I'm gussing its signals from other cars remote CL that does it? Is there any way of stopping this , considering that guy sets off for work at 4am every morning?......

There was a Service Bulleten some time ago, it is a known issue.
