Hawes DL8 3PS Yorkshire

Any good roads around here? As we are staying here for our Hols

I know the Buttertubs pass is very near :D

ALL good roads around there. Buttertubs is fun, but too dangerous for serious speed. I much prefer the flowing lines of Ribblehead (Hawes to Settle or Ingleton). The A6160 from Aysgarth to Grassington is superb too, and as an alternative you could turn right at West Witton and head over the Ranges dropping into Kettlewell. From Grassington head east towards Pateley Bridge on the B6265, turning right in Greenhow Hill to drop down toward Blubberhouses and the reservoirs for a 140+ thrill :D

Whilst you're there, check out the Wenslydale with blueberries from the creamery in Hawes. The Lamb Devonshire at The Devondhire Hotel in Grassington is sublime. Although pricey, the food at The Red Lion in Burnsall is fantastic, and the setting is idyllic. To work up an appetite, walk the riverside walk to Grassington for lunch and then back to Burnsall for dinner. A better day out in England has yet to be found IMHO.

You're also not too far from The Lakes, so Hardknott, Wrynose, Kirkstone, Whinlatter and Honister Pass' could be enjoyed.
