remap 1.9 combi comfort?

Featured Replies

i want to upgrade power to 130 bhp, the ? is do i have to upgrade brakes clutch etc?, i was thinking of just getting it chipped, ps i am a bit of a novice on these things.

The throttle goes both ways, you don't HAVE to drive flat out with a remap.

I have a combi comfort with vRS alloys and a tuning box fitted and in my opinion the extra poke MAKE the car.

thanks for your repley, did you have brakes upgraded ect?

if your going to uprate the power then you need to uprate:

brakes, springs, rarb, - some would say you dont need the rarb but it allows the car to handle lot sharper wich is what youll need with the extra power. also lowering it with better springs will improve ride. if you want to get the most out of a map though you should look into getting a seat pd160 air intake before map. far better that the standard one. do a search on here youll find some good help on this subject for sure

Just out of interest which tuning box do you have... I've noticed our Fabia TDi Cobi Comfort now feels slow compared to the new Octavia we've just ought so am thinking about having a play...:D

I also have tuning box in my Fabia Combi.

I have Eibach sport springs with 30/30 lowering on mine, and it really improves the handling. I would also like the Rear ARB, but as i live in Denmark, it would be pretty expensive with postage and all.

My tuning box is from a company called "KitPower", and in 4th and 5th it kinda waits to give full throttle - so you floor it - it goes - after a second or two the box kicks in. I think this is to save the clutch in the high gears. But if you apply the throttle gently it doesn`t hestitate.

It is a big improvement with the box compared to stock - atleast that is my opinion.

EDIT: I drive briskly and I find the brakes good enough, and i havent experinced brake fade or anything else.

I dont have the estate , but I have the 1.9TDi 100PD

I have tried a couple of maps on my car

Mine was rolling road`d at 140bhp

I have the PD160 intake on mine and a Pipercross air filter

I have not upgraded my brakes , but I can assure you they are superb

All I have to do is touch the brakes slightly and my nose touches the windscreen

The suspension , I have the Koni STR.T kit on and it handles like a dream

The ARB is shot , but I am contemplating a vRS one but at the moment it is superb

The fuel economy is up by 5mpg with the remap and I also gained approx 4mpg with the air filter

The throttle response is FANTASTIC and yes , I use it as I drive faily rapidly , but dont go over the speed limit

What a car , I get 60 - 65 MPG , it has done 102k miles and it is a dream to drive :D :D :D :D :D from me!!!!!

I must admit I did try a tuning box on my car , not as smooth as a remap , but did offer slight improvements on fuel , but only slight

Sarah

Sorry - been away from the keyboard for a while.

I have tried a Van Aaken Smartbox and an unknown 2 stage box on my combi, the Van Aaken was the smoothest but not the strongest. I'd love to try the tuning box with the pd160 intake, but I ain't giving Mr Seat
