Problem With My New Vrs ( 3 yr old)

Featured Replies

Just checked for the first time tonight ( have had car since Friday) the oil, windscreen wash and the coolant. The oil was ok,only used the windscreen was once but noticed no power in the water checked it tonight and it was emptey???. My main concern is the coolant I cannot see the water level so I unscrewed it and noticed the lid was not on tight enough I then noticed a leak under coolant. I used a funnel to fill up the windscreen wash so no leakage from that. I hope I have not swapped a car with no problems at all for a unreliable one. The car had a service in May at the dealers .

Update

I put a glass under the leak and marked the level of the windscreen wash with a pen and the glass is full of windscreen liquid and the level has gone down = a leak in the windscreen wash pipe:thumbdwn: .

Maybe a join has come away somewhere along the pipe , have you traced it from the resevoir to the jets and gave it a onceover?

is it leaking when its left standing or when you're trying to use the pump to wash the windows?

Is it the front or rear that's being washed at the time?

Cannot see where leak is coming from. Leaking when not using, not tried to use it since the leak.

if it's leaking when it's not being used i'd suggest it's a dodgy seal where the p[ump goes into the bottle.

do you know if the washer bottle's been changed?

has your car got xenons?

Yes the car has xenons.

Isn't leaky washer bottles a common problem? Seem to remember reading about it anyway. Either way, dealer should be able to fix it easy enough :D

Chris

i've never heard of it on a fabia before but could be wtong.

if the car has xenons it'll already have the large washer bottle, so it won't hhave been upgraded.

if you want to investigate yourself it's easy to remove the bumper and the washer bottle is easily accessed at passenger side(guide is the first bit of this http://www.forgemotorsport.com/media/FabiaVRS(1).pdf ), otherwise it's an easy fix for the dealers (if you bought from them it should have yrs warranty) just be prepared for an 1-2hrs work
