What's the Wire for?

Featured Replies

Advice appreciated.

Whilst washing my Mk2 vRS the other day i saw that the front nearside, black plastic grill thing (right at the bottom of the bumper under the numberplate) was protuding from its fixing slightly. This is the small section, one either side of the longer section. I pulled it right out and saw that part of the fixing had split and there was a wire with a small black case on the end, which had what looked like a sensor or something attached. The case looks as if it should push into the small circular hole in the fixing but i cant get it in an dont want to force it too much.

I can only presume that someone has shunted me from the front causing the damage to the inside of the bumper and pushing the cable out of place. I cant push the cable back in for love nor money.

Any ideas what the sensor thing does, how to get it back in and in general what i should be thinking about doing?

All answers appreciated..

Regards,

Tom

Could it be the external temperature sensor ?

Yep. They fit, badly, into a little metal tab which is part of the crash bar IIRC.
