knocking noise from front

Featured Replies

HAVE RECENTLY HAD A KNOCKING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF MY VRS

CHECKED THE USUAL THINGS , ARB IS FINE ,ARB BUSHES ARE FINE , DOGBONE MOUNT IS BRAND NEW ,ARB DROPLINKS ARE ALL OK .

HAS ANYONE SUFFERED WITH ANYTHING ELSE , MAYBE SOMETHING AROUND THE GEARBOX AREA

HAS ANYONE GOT ANY IDEAS

there have been a few threads on here about this , there is TSB on it that the Skoda dealer should know about , it involves the lubrication of the gearbox mounting under the battery/air box area

oh and can you stop shouting please

Sounds like the problem I had with my vRS. Like ric04vrs says, the solution was to apply a dab of silicone grease to the gearbox mount - Henry's Skoda, Glasgow did the work.

Although you might be sceptical that the sound you are hearing could be resolved by something as simple as a dab of grease, believe me, it worked. Incidentally, this is not a rare problem, Skoda UK issued an instruction sheet to dealers on precisely this fix.

Here's hoping it works for you as the difference in how the car sounds and feels post the fix is nothing short of extraordinary.

For information The best stuff i found was maplins silicone greese. Comes in a tube so its easy to squirt in then a flat piece of card can be used to spread it evenly. Plus cos its silicone it wont destroy the rubber like some other greases can
