Convenience system - not happy :(

Featured Replies

My car has been with Skoda today having the alarm looked at which I have given up trying to solve myself.

It turns out that some complete numpty has connected a wire to the convenience module at some point during the car's life which has buggered it up . The garage are not sure what the wire was used for but it's not connected to anything now.

Anyway, the outcome is that I need a new convenience module :(. I was just wondering if they are all the same? I.E if I found a car of a similar age would I be able to take the unit out and swap it with mine? If I could, would it need programming?

Thanks :(

You'll have a part number on it Phil.

As long as the part number matches you'll be fine.

If you have the car back, and have VAG-COM you can get the part number via that.

If you give me the number I may be able to give you an idea of which vehicles it was fitted to.

Might be worth PM'ing your chassis number, that might reveal it.

Thanks Stu! I'll send you the details across as soon as I get the car back if thats ok. They're just putting it back together at the moment.

With a lot of help (and partience!) from Stu, I have now got a replacement convenience module.

Does anyone know what is involved in coding the new module? I'm just wondering if it can be done in VAG-COM, and if so, how?

Thanks :)
