Hi Spec 325mm 4 Pot Caliper Big Brake kit - In Green

Featured Replies

Hello all Members

I have been speaking to Hi Spec Motorsport recently as i wanted to upgrade the Brakes on my 2003 Skoda Octavia VRS MK1. They were happy to help and told me the Audi TT front brake set up was the same. The only problem was i wanted the Calipers in Green. I was told that they cannot do this as a one off as the costs involved would make it not viable. I suggested the idea of a Group buy and they were happy to help. After a couple of phone calls and number crunching i have the following deal to put forward:

The product: A 325mm Big Brake kit with Green Calipers and Green Bells From Hi-Spec Motorsport. More Details can be found at Ford Escort Mk2 (Ignore the escort note, it is the right link :) )

Fitment: Mk1 Skoda Octavia VRS (It may fit other models also but i am unable to confirm this.

The Retail Price:

Hi there,

I'm not looking to upgrade the brakes but I can recommend the HiSpec kit. I have their monster 6 calipers fitted to the esprit and they are awesome stoppers. Look really nice under the wheels.

Cheers

Would be worth noting the same kit would also fit the Fabia with the right wheels.

you might struggle with this as the Brembo 4 pot setup is cheaper.

bet they would look smart though! :)

Depends where the Brembo set up comes from I guess, I think Bill now retails them at just under

ooooh, i thought they cost less than that.

sorry!

I'll keep an eye on this as my front discs and pads need changing @ next service!

I may just go ahead with the bigger kit

Lummox - Thanks for that. So is the fitment the same for the Fabia's also? (as long as you have enough clearance - a guide is provided on the hi spec site)

That would be good if they did.

Hope this group buy takes off as these brakes would look the nuts as they are in green :)

I wonder if i could get them to machine the "VRS" logo in the Calipers rather than "Hi-Spec"?????

Regards

Garry

Hello guy's, I am new to your forum, but not new to this company Hi Spec.

As a club racer I know more then a couple of people who have had constant problems and pathetic service from this company. They are always willing to sell you something, but after that point they have no concept of customer service.

It's easy to be starry' eyed about their nice looking 4 pots, but the quality is appaling, and the customer service is worse. Now they sell a lot, but I think the run of the mill may be ok, but for anything special or low volume do not expect a high standard of customer relation.

Okay - Thats one vote for, and one vote against. Does anyone else have any experience with Hi-Spec?

I have always used them on all my road and race cars (as they are fairly local) with great success, but that was using stock products and kits so dont know how they fair with small batch work. Will have to give them a call and see what they say. Im sure it will be biased but they may have good reasons for any problems suffered before.

Kind Regards

I'd read this,

Hi-Spec Brakes

one of my friends has a quote from his web site near the bottom, he's not the only one I race with with the issues. I would look at the other vag forums for brake kits, I know there was one for the mk5 golf on UK Mkiv's so for the older cars I expect there to be many.

Due to a lack of interest this is no longer going ahead :)
