Octavia VRS MK1 squealing rear brakes

Featured Replies

My Mk1 Octavia VRS has had a problem with squealing rear brakes (Very embarrasing at the lights) I have had the Skoda Warranty kit fitted, but all this has cured is the graunching noise when you brake whilst reversing. After speaking to many Skoda Dealers and not getting any help at all. I finally went to a VW dealer (Smith Knight Faye). I had had a Golf MK4 estate previously and though that if I could get the same type of brake pad, with 3M tape on the back I should be able to cure the noise.

Anyway I bought the pads which were off a Passat, part no V3B0 698 451A and the squealing noise has gone!!:) I think they are a softer compound than the rock hard VRS pads also. Hope this is of help to other VRS drivers out there.

Had my first service done Monday and asked them to look in to the 'mooing' brake problem. When I picked the car up it was booked in to change the rear pads. Not asked what to but we'll see if it works.

Thanks cos it's further confirmation of my theory that the problem is a compounding issue, nothing to do with the balance masses.
